Birmingham-based MetroPM has been appointed to manage a mixed-use development in the Jewellery Quarter. The new appointment is to manage the historic The Million Pen Building which now houses 21 luxury apartments and four commercial units.
“Million Pen is a Grade II listed building at 3-5 Legge Lane which was originally built in 1893 as a steel pen manufacturer.
Ian Smallman, director of MetroPM, said:
“This historic building has been sensitively developed to showcase its original features while bringing it fully into the 21st century. The result offers all the comforts of modern living, in a setting of genuine historic and architectural interest.”

In the heart of the Jewellery Quarter, The Million Pen Building was originally built in 1893 as a steel pen “manufactory” for George W. Hughes, the creator of “The Million Pen”. Now Grade II listed, it is one of the area’s most architecturally celebrated buildings, notable for its distinctive Dutch-gabled terracotta façade.
“We have been appointed by a national freeholder who was seeking a residential property management agent who could provide the skills and expertise to manage modern living requirements in an historic setting.
Mr Smallman added:
“We are very pleased to have added this outstanding and significant property to our regional and national portfolio as we continue to grow.”
Established in 2006, MetroPM provides day-to-day estate management services to a growing number of developers, freeholders and resident management companies nationally.
