Putting Customers First: The Value of Independent Lift Consultancy

    0
By Ardent Lift Consultancy on August 4, 2026 Communal Facilities, Customer Service & Marketing, Industry News, Lifts, News

For many property managers, managing agents, freeholders, and residents, lifts are an essential part of everyday life. When they work well, they can often be taken for granted, but when a lift becomes unreliable or breaks down, the impact can be felt immediately across a building.

For residents and leaseholders, a lift can be essential for accessibility, mobility, and independence. For property managers and managing agents, maintaining a reliable lift service means balancing safety, compliance, budgets, contractors, and resident expectations.

This is where an independent lift consultancy can provide real value.

    Independent Advice You Can Trust

The lift industry can be complex, particularly when significant repairs, modernisation, or replacement works are being considered. It can be difficult for clients to know whether the recommended solution is genuinely the best option for their building.

Should the lift be repaired? Modernised? Or replaced?

At Ardent Lift Consultancy, our role is to provide an independent view. We do not manufacture lift equipment, meaning our advice is based on what we believe is the right solution for the client, not on selling a particular product.

We can assess the condition and performance of existing equipment, review the options available, and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each approach in clear, straightforward language.

This allows our clients to make informed decisions with confidence.

    Supporting Property Managers and Residents

We understand that lift issues can create significant challenges for property managers and managing agents. They may need to coordinate contractors, manage budgets, communicate with residents, and ensure that works are completed correctly.

Our role is to help simplify this process.

We can assist with independent lift surveys, reviewing contractor recommendations, preparing specifications, comparing quotations, project management, and advising on future modernisation or replacement programmes.

At the same time, we recognise the impact that lift downtime can have on residents and leaseholders. For older or disabled residents in particular, a lift is not simply a convenience, it can be essential to accessing their own home.

Clear communication is therefore an important part of our approach. Residents should understand why works are being recommended, what they are intended to achieve, and how they will benefit the building in the long term.

    Looking Beyond the Immediate Problem

It can be tempting to focus only on getting a failed lift working again. However, repeated short-term repairs may not always be the best long-term solution.

An independent consultant can help clients look at the bigger picture, considering the lift’s age, condition, reliability, energy consumption, availability of spare parts, and likely future maintenance costs.

Sometimes a repair is all that is required. In other circumstances, modernisation may provide a better outcome, while in some extreme cases full replacement may be the most sensible option.

The important thing is that the decision is based on an informed assessment of the building’s needs.

    Getting the Best Value

Value is not always about choosing the cheapest quotation.

The true cost of a lift can include reliability, downtime, energy consumption, future maintenance, and the expected lifespan of the equipment. A cheaper solution that requires repeated repairs may ultimately cost more, while a complete replacement may not always be necessary.

Our role is to help clients consider these factors together and identify the solution that provides the best overall value for the building and its residents.

    Putting the Customer First

At Ardent Lift Consultancy, we believe that good customer service starts with listening.

Every building and every lift is different, and every client has different priorities. Whether you are dealing with an unreliable lift, considering major works, or simply want an independent second opinion, our approach is to understand the situation, provide clear and impartial advice, and help you make the right decision.

We pride ourselves on being approachable and straightforward. Our job is to take complex technical information and turn it into clear, practical advice that our clients can understand and act upon.

For property managers and managing agents, this means having an experienced technical adviser who can help navigate complex decisions and ensure the interests of the building and its residents remain at the centre of the process.

For residents and leaseholders, it means knowing that decisions about their lift are being considered independently, with safety, reliability, value, accessibility, and long-term performance all taken into account.

At Ardent Lift Consultancy, we are always happy to have an informal conversation about your lift requirements, whether you are experiencing ongoing issues, considering major works, or simply want an independent opinion.
