Carparks, drives and road around Solihull apartments resurfaced by Principle Estate Management

A major resurfacing project has been successfully completed around an apartment block in Solihull looked after by Principle Estate Management.

The works saw more than 55 tons of tarmac laid on the car park, drives and road at Barley Green, a block of more than 70 apartments off the Milcote Road, near the town centre.

Matthew Harris, a senior property manager at Principle, explained that the project had been agreed because surfaces had not been replaced since the apartments were first built in the 1960s.

Mr Harris said: “The work began after successful consultations with leaseholders on the details of what was needed. Including the replacement of defective car park surfacing.

“We liaised closely with the local authority so that tenants could continue to park in restricted zones near the property during the works.

“The site was well-managed by our building surveying team and the appointed contractor to minimise disruption for residents.

“The entire project went smoothly and works were completed on time within two weeks without any setbacks.”

Richard Coles, senior building surveyor at Principle, said: “This was an important project to enhance the estate’s roads. And to make sure all driveways and the car park were safe and hazard free.

“This involved laying more than 55 tons of binder course tarmac, completing all new surfaces correctly for rainfall flows, finishing with line markings and clearing out all related drains.

“The building surveying team did all this while making sure that the project was successfully value- engineered to maximise cost savings for leaseholders.”

Bettina a long term resident at Barley Green said. “We are really pleased to have had the resurfacing works completed and to such a high standard. As a set of residents we are looking forward to continuing to work with Principle on other works required across our homes over the coming few years”.
