Retirement is a time when many Brits look to relocate for a change of scenery in towns and villages that may not have been as convenient to live in while raising a family or working full time.

London-based Estate Agents Douglas & Gordon have looked at the top 10 UK towns perfect for retiring. By looking at factors such as average rent and house prices, restaurants, and the number of parks and golf courses, they were able to rank the top 10 retirement towns.

Top ten retirement towns by Douglas & Gordon

    1) Twickenham – The London suburb has been ranked the best place to retire in throughout the whole of the UK, despite rents and house prices being higher than most of the other towns Twickenham offers plenty for retirees to do. The South- West London town has plenty of transport links, a huge 193 parks to visit and 3 golf courses for those that play.

    2) Richmond- Not far behind in second place and also a close neighbour of Twickenham is Richmond, the town has the highest average house and rent prices in the list but with extensive transport facilities, a choice of over 350 parks with the notorious being Richmond Park and over 377 restaurants to try out there are many benefits to retiring in Richmond.

    3) Bromley – In third place is another London town, Bromley borders South-East London and Kent, meaning retirees can have the best of both worlds when it comes to living near a faster paced city to escape to the countryside for a bit. House prices and rent prices are not as high as the first two towns but still considerably steep however Bromley is a great location and there is plenty for retirees to do.
