Principle helps set up youth camp as part of company’s CSR activities

The boss of Principle Estate Management is leading from the front for the Birmingham company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, volunteering to help set up a Boys’ Brigade camp in Devon.

Brett Williams, managing director at Principle, was joined by two staff members. His sons Benedict Williams, a property inspector at the firm. And Jonas Williams, who works on a range of administration and high-level IT coding roles.

The threesome travelled down south spending a Wednesday evening to a Friday afternoon setting up the camp with other volunteers. Erecting 12 six-person ridge tents plus a large marquee used for meals and “indoor” events.

The volunteering was linked to Benedict and Jonas’ out-of-work roles as leaders for the 3rd Warley Boys’ Brigade, leading meetings every week with youngsters.

Brett said: “It was hard and hot work putting up all those tents but also great fun. And it was a pleasure to be able to help.

“These camping adventures are great for young people. Living away from home for a week, sharing time with others, trying new things and taking their turn looking after each other by serving meals or even washing up!

“It is great that as the business continues to grow we can support corporate social responsibility activities such as this.

“Our vision at Principle is to ‘positively impact the everyday lives of our communities.’ We believe it is vital to contribute to the community in which we work and live, both as a business and as individuals.”

Brett added: “Principle is now actively encouraging its employees to take part in CSR activities and is offering one day of extra leave per year for them to support an organisation, charity or event of their choice.”

Benedict and Jonas attended Boys’ Brigade themselves from the ages of 5 to 18. They have remained as leaders since leaving school.

Benedict said: “The Boys’ Brigade is an important part of our lives. It’s great that the company encourages our involvement by contributing a CSR day towards our efforts.”
