What is SeniorLink?

SeniorLink is an immediate telephone response service that puts you in touch with someone who can help at the touch of a button.

SeniorLink could make the difference between life and death or simply serve as someone to talk to for reassurance and advice. This service is only available throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

How does SeniorLink work?
The SeniorLink service is simply a base unit with a button on it. Whenever you want to use the SeniorLink service, you either press the button on the base unit, or the accompanying pendant or wrist strap, which can be pressed from almost anywhere in the home or garden. The service is effective within 25m/82ft of the base unit.

You will then be automatically connected to the SeniorLink Response Centre, where their response team will be able to help, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and no query is too small.

To have the SeniorLink unit installed you will need:

  • a modern telephone line
  • a 13amp electrical socket (within 12ft of the telephone line)

Does SeniorLink offer more than emergency response?

Yes, the SeniorLink service stretches far beyond emergency assistance. SeniorLink’s trained Response Team is on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is always happy to chat or offer reassurance, as well as providing assistance in an emergency.

SeniorLink offers a constant companion that you can call upon whenever you want to. You and your family can be happy in the knowledge that there will always be a friend at the end of the phone, whatever the time of day or night.

In some areas, Help the Aged also operates the SeniorLink Bogus Caller scheme, which can give you greater reassurance and security when answering the door to unexpected callers.

The Bogus Caller add-on will provide you with a 'door alert' button installed next to your front door. When the button is pressed, an immediate connection is made with an operator at the response centre who will offer assistance. For details, see
www.helptheaged.org.uk/en-gb/AdviceSupport/HomeSafety/BogusCallers/default.htm

How much will SeniorLink cost?

The SeniorLink equipment is available to buy but you may also qualify to receive a free unit from the Charity, depending on your circumstances. For each option you, or your family, must be able to pay the equivalent of £1.63 per week (plus VAT if applicable to your circumstances). All calls to the Seniorlink Response Centre will be charged at local call rates.
