Brighton and Hove is searching for private landlords and anyone with rental property or considering a move into letting can find out more about the process and the benefits at a special event being run by private sector leasing (PSL) specialists Orchard and Shipman on 8 December at the Preston Park Hotel, Brighton.
The City Council is tackling its housing waiting lists by offering tenants private sector properties and as a result demand for one bedroom flats to four bedroom homes has rocketed in the city. As part of the PSL scheme, properties are managed on behalf of landlords by Orchard & Shipman who take responsibility for looking after everything from the general maintenance of the property to the rental collection.
John Taylor, CEO for Orchard & Shipman explains: “PSL enables the City Council to provide homes to those in need of housing and enables us to secure long-term investments for our landlords which is a healthy alternative to seasonal and student rentals. As a result, we are searching for a variety of properties in the area.”
The event is designed to offer expertise and advice on PSL and the benefits of the scheme to any existing or potential new landlords. It runs from 2pm until 8pm and is open to anyone, from those with a portfolio or just one property they would like to rent out.
“At Orchard & Shipman we handle each stage of the letting process and manage the property on behalf of the landlords. There is a guaranteed rental income, with no voids, no agency fees, no service worries, vacant possession at the end of the tenancy and peace of mind for the investor,” says John.
A spokesman from Brighton and Hove City Council comments: “The PSL scheme we have introduced in partnership with Orchard & Shipman enables us to provide a prevention service working towards reducing housing waiting lists and homelessness throughout the city.”
