A Decade at the Forefront of Leasehold Enfranchisement

Leasehold enfranchisement includes the processes of lease extension, freehold acquisition and correction of management problems within leasehold properties.

The Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP) brings together organisations - barristers, managing agents, project managers, valuers and solicitors - working within the leasehold enfranchisement sector under one all-encompassing association.

The Association, which celebrates its ten-year anniversary this year and now boasts 213 member firms and individual barristers, was founded to ensure that practitioners involved in this sector adhere to an agreed level of conduct and service. Membership is a badge of assurance to leaseholders and freeholders that they can be sure of a consistently high level of service, integrity and professionalism.

ALEP’s members and representatives are experienced in dealing with the various and complicated issues faced by leaseholders. These include:

  • Extending a lease
  • Collective enfranchisement
  • Informal lease extension implications
  • Marriage value
  • Leaseholder vs. freeholder disputes and resolutions
  • First-tier Tribunals
  • Leasehold Valuation Tribunals
  • Over-inflated ground rent, service charges and insurance
